If the peninsula remains at current Eastern Standard Time and the panhandle joins EST and the state does NOT observe daylight savings time then I’m good with it – that’s a permanent one hour change, so the panhandle goes one hour ahead and stays there for good. Eastern Standard time plus daylight savings time is two hours ahead of Central Standard time. However the portion of the Florida panhandle south of Alabama is in Central Time (GMT-6)Most of Florida is in Eastern Time Zone.
